China : Growth and Environment

Migrant workers shoot a video showing the costs of the Shenzhen monstrous economic growth which slowed down to only 11% last year compared to 27% (per year) in the previous twentyfive years!
In 1979, when Deng Xiaoping declared the area a Special Economic Zone, it was a fishing village with 25000 people village. Now Shenzhen officially hosts about 14 million people, more than 4200 per square km: a nightmare.

Some considerations on the interplay between uncontrolled growth and environmental destruction: is such a kind of growth really worth ?
